Single parent families in Santa Clarita in California are now the recipients of the latest local community program.
The Single Mothers Outreach program is a non-profit organization and their latest project offers each member of single parent families an allocation of clothing for free.
Each family member is entitled to 8 pieces of clothing per month and so far, the program has an excess of clothing left over each month.
This is a fantastic program and is just an additional program offered by the Single Mothers Outreach organization. According to their website, their goal “is to empower single parents and their children by providing hope, support and resources so that families can become self-sustaining”. And their latest program helps single parent families do just that.
Clothing is such an important necessity and unfortunately many single parent families cannot afford to buy new clothes for themselves or their children. Especially in the current economic environment with reduced wages and high living costs, buying new clothing is not a high priority for many families. That is why this latest program is so helpful and has been such a success.
With an excess of clothing each month, the programs director came up with the idea of selling the excess clothing through opening a store. This will provide a further opportunity for unemployed single parents to learn all aspects of retail management and acquire new skills. The money raised by the store will further alleviate the pressure of fundraising. So, it is really win-win on all aspects of the program.
